La cavalleria leggera
Bersaglieri was termed to light soldiers that served in various military campaigns in North Africa. They were not as well-trained as the Italian Blackshirts such as the Granatieri, but were versatile and hardy.
The Bersaglieri, are very good against infantry, as even 2 American G.I's can't take out one of these, however, as they lack any rocket launcher weapon, they are an easy prey for a light tank, even an ultra-light tank.
Also, the Bersaglieri is considered to be the best light infantry in the game.
The Bersaglieri are a corps of the Italian Army originally created by General Alessandro La Marmora on 18 June 1836 to serve in the Piedmontese Army, later to become the Royal Italian Army. The English equivalent to Bersaglieri is "marksmen."
Italy’s Bersaglieri Regiments were expanded to three battalions each during the Second World War. However, the Army resisted any temptation to dilute their quality, and recruits continued to be of above-average size and stamina. They endured intense physical training, just as their great-grandfathers had, as well as having to qualify as marksmen.
The Bersaglieri fought in Southern France and Greece in 1940. The first Bersaglieri to see combat in North Africa was the 10th Bersaglieri Regiment. They arrived in Libya in early 1941. Later, they were also deployed on the Eastern Front.
Tactics and TipsEdit
- These troops are surprisingly good compared to other light infantry. In fact, their medium weapon and heavy grenade is equaled only by the Konoe in the light infantry category.
- As they have only satchel charges and heavy grenades to counter vehicles, it is recommended to have armored recon or 47 mm/90 mm AT guns with them at all times just in case if they get attacked by armored vehicles or strong infantry.
